THE MUSIC COLLECTIVE (an AECG company)
Studio City, CA, March 25, 2010 – Alec Puro, composer with The Music Collective, has created the score for the upcoming PBS documentary "The Street Stops Here".
Debuting March 31st at 10 pm (ET), the film chronicles the trials and tribulations of one of America’s top high school basketball coaches, Bob Hurley. For over 35 years, Hurley’s “hard work, no excuses” mantra has inspired the troubled youth of St. Anthony’s school in Jersey City, N.J. Thanks to his efforts, hundreds of players have gotten out of the projects and into college.
The producers wanted to get the most out of the human element by creating a sound that underscored the emotional roller coaster the film evokes. Explosions In The Sky (Friday Night Lights) contributed songs that blend into the sonic palette of Puro’s score. “I was so excited to work on this project and create a soundscape that reflected the intense emotions playing out on the screen.” Puro, no stranger to documentaries, delivers a top-notch score that highlights an emotionally charged portrait of a man changing lives.
