Alan Ett Composes For The Hallmark Channel's First Ever Movie Musical:
The Hallmark Channel has given the green light to composer and songwriter Alan Ett, along with Axelrod-Ett Productions, to produce the network’s first movie musical! Ett will compose music and lyrics for the musical featured in the film and has also been approved as composer for the film itself, which is an exciting genre debut for Hallmark. Jonathan Axelrod and Alan Ett will executive produce as well.
When funding is cut for an after-school music program, former students from the first class develop a plan to save it. They return to aid the extraordinary high school teacher who initiated the program and nurtured their talents. Hoping to raise enough funds to reinstate the program, they gather for a reunion rendition of their high school musical from years ago. Though a wonderful plan in theory, the reunion uncovers unsettled differences among the former students as they struggle to prevent past high school drama from interfering with their primary altruistic goal. The Music Teacher was written by Ron Parker (Hatfields & McCoys in pre-production staring Kevin Costner), who has been working closely with execs Axelrod and Ett. The Music Teacher is currently in pre-production and is scheduled for an August 2012 premiere on The Hallmark Channel.
